The Esperança sobre Rodas project was launched on October 30, at Centro Cultural Martim Cererê, in Goiânia (GO), state in which the itinerant action, idealized by Bruno Borges and Fabrício Rosa, will hit the road and ride in a cultural motorhome.

The objective is to bring art and citizenship to more than 40 cities in the midwestern state, and the organizers expect to reach around 4,000 people along the entire route.

Esperança Sobre Rodas has a partnership with artists, cultural producers and activists who work in the area of human rights in the region such as Cida Alves, Wes Gama, Seluta Rodrigues, Jandira Queiroz, Murilo do Carmo, Alex Katira, Lucas Gabriel, Katiúscia Costa, Gustavo Apollo and Cacau Milla and a series of articulators throughout the state.

Bruno explains that the objective is to bring and encourage cultural activities to cities and to promote debates on artistic production, as well as holding workshops on qualification and legislation on cultural projects.

“The main focus are the events in public squares, where we will show films, hold conversation circles and poetry soirees. We will also distribute books and liaise with local leaders who work with social projects. We hope to cooperate with the training of these people. If they want and feel that we can help in any way, we offer lectures, workshops on Canva, techniques for taking a good photo, safety tips on the networks and how to compete for an artistic contest, for example”.

Reaching an audience that can’t be forgotten

“The dialogue will include the participation of black people, children and teenagers, women, the LGBTQIA+ population, indigenous people, quilombolas, gypsies, migrants, refugees, people with disabilities, the elderly, the homeless and others who are politically and economically vulnerable”, says Bruno.

With that, they hope to contemplate a population generally neglected by the public power. For all this to happen, the duo will receive support from volunteers. “The idea is to reach the city and democratize access to culture. At the moment we can only bring a pocket cinema and a little literature, but what moves us is the desire to bring theater, dance, all these artistic languages to those who have a hard time accessing them.”

The conversation with some of the local leaders is being carried out in the spirit of the project: full of cooperation and discoveries. “To reach articulators in places we have no contact with, we are counting on the support of friends and people who volunteer on social networks. Demand has been good,” said Fabrício Rosa.

Initiative seeks support to expand operations

Initially funded with its own resources, the expectation is that the initiative will receive support and expand. “We are the ones funding the project at first, but we are disputing laws to encourage culture and strongly believe in crowdfunding [virtual crowdfunding] and in the support of society. We are receiving donations by pix [esperancasobrerodasgo@gmail.com] or by Sharity”, comments Bruno.

The experience will not be restricted to local communities.

The trip can be followed on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and other Esperança Sobre Rodas networks, showing the beauty of the different regions of the state and the activities developed, in addition to a diary with impressions about the experiences lived by the group.
