GuettoTech Salvador is a project that consists of a set of actions and workshops designed and formed by Bahian DJs and music producers Manigga and Pivoman, who together present online digital DJing and beat production workshops. The initiative is free and aimed at young people aged between 15 and 29.

“The purpose of the project is to establish an interaction between these and other peripheral artists from Salvador and the production of these spaces, through digital tools of manipulation and musical production”, says Manigga.

The project was awarded by the Riachão Prize – Small Porte Projects, from the Gregório de Mattos Foundation and the Salvador City Hall, through the Aldir Blanc Cultural Emergency Law, created by the federal government during the new coronavirus pandemic, with the aim of support artists and cultural projects.

Path to new opportunities

The introductory digital DJing workshop aims to bring participants closer to the universe of accessible and digital DJing, sharing technical knowledge with music files through Serato DJ software.

Content such as the history of DJing, musical trends, knowledge about the interface, music research methodology, mixing techniques and setlist recordings are covered in the project.

From the universe of music production to beat

The second GuettoTech workshop, in turn, seeks to present the universe of music production – from the basic principles to the creation of a “beat”, sound base ready to be used.

“We will seek to share theoretical knowledge that will enable participants to produce music using only the computer through the Fruit Loops software, one of the most popular software for music production in the world. And we will also present the interface and the basic functions of the software, the use of virtual instruments with computer keys, basic mixing and file export, in addition to the composition and arrangement techniques [channel rack and arrangement view]”, highlighted Manigga.

The workshops “Music production: from scratch to a beat” and “Introduction to digital DJing”, which will take place during the month of March, will result in an episode of Guettotech Web Rádio, with a transcribed version, opening a space for content exchanges and reproduction of playlists.
