Make financial support to civil society organizations perceived not as a donation, but as a real investment. This is the objective of IMPACTO, a social company that offers a technological platform to connect donors to institutions that need support to structure and grow.

With the announcement of an online campaign focused on martial arts projects, the organization is implementing a data intelligence system based on the motivations and behavior of those who invest in humanitarian initiatives, in order to simplify the contribution processes and provide security, transparency and traceability of the impacts generated.

To apply technology at the service of social investment, the company curates organizations with already established structures, surveys their needs and structures donation campaigns. Based on contributions, the company conducts user surveys.

In addition, the investor can monitor how the money is being used, since all the beneficiary institutions are committed to account for the use of funds in order to receive new transfers. This information is being studied so that a single platform brings simplified solutions for investor involvement with the most diverse causes.

The founder and CEO of the social enterprise, Camila Soares, explains that the company intends to make good use of the data obtained to emphasize the role of social investors in Brazil. “In the culture of donation, the benefits are seen unilaterally: the person donates the money, but it is as if the effects were restricted to the organization that received it, without benefiting the lives of those who contributed”, she analyzes.

“When we talk about social investment, we place the individual as an agent of transformation, who understands that, by supporting a project, it generates value for the entire production chain and is investing in a better future for society. Technology and data intelligence allow us to create a network of collaboration and trust, which places more and more people in the role of investor based on the perception that it is quick, easy and advantageous to generate a positive impact anywhere, without doubt or need. to be on the front line”, he explains.

IMPACTO’s martial arts campaign includes the following organizations: Abraço Campeão (Rio de Janeiro – RJ); Vidigal Capoeira (Rio de Janeiro – RJ); Wake up Capoeira (Rio de Janeiro – RJ); Transforming Art (Rio de Janeiro – RJ); and Fundação Gibi (Taboão da Serra – SP).

The lack of financial resources to pay for student registrations in the championships and the lack of infrastructure and materials such as kimonos, gloves, bands, mats and protective equipment are some of the main problems reported by project representatives.

Sport incentive

Headquartered in Complexo do Alemão, in Rio de Janeiro (RJ), the NGO Abraço Campeão works with children and young people aged between 7 and 29, mixing sports with mandatory personal development classes. Since its foundation in 2014, 1200 students have passed through the organization. Today, about 300 people attend boxing, karate and functional classes.

Alan Duarte, founder of Abraço Campeão, explains how the link with IMPACTO broadened society’s view of social organizations in need of investment.

“The partnership created a very nice bridge between the south zone and the center of Rio with Abraço Campeão. It made it possible to open the eyes of residents from all over Rio de Janeiro, from noble areas, to get involved and invest in projects and in people like me, who are revolutionizing the favela, the way of living, of organizing public policies. We will only win with the community, with a network to enhance and bring dignity and quality of life to all of us”, says Duarte.

In activity since 2016, in Complexo da Penha, the Cultural Arte Transformadora project is also one of those contemplated in the work of IMPACTO. With a multidisciplinary proposal, the initiative facilitates artistic, cultural and sports workshops for 260 students, who are divided between classes in classical ballet, theater, capoeira, ballroom dancing, jiu-jitsu, futsal, crafts, computers and tutoring.

Another organization benefited is Vidigal Capoeira, a project with free capoeira and Afro dance classes for about 100 people in the Vidigal favela, in the South Zone of Rio. By carrying out various activities for the community, such as scenic shows, musical performances, debates, lectures, practical workshops and workshops, the organization promotes Afro-Brazilian cultural manifestations.

The capoeira master and founder of the project, Messias Freitas, highlights the role of the IMPACTO campaign in the continuation of the NGO’s work. “We have a very valuable partnership, which emerged to meet our needs in terms of equipment and materials, so that we can continue in a dignified and prosperous way. We know that not everyone has the time to donate to a collective or institution. One way to help effectively is through financial donations, even if it’s just a little. And, when the value can be followed from the day it came out of your pocket to the end goal, it’s pleasant to donate and know that your sweat is doing good and a difference in someone’s life”, he says.

In Rocinha, Acorda Capoeira, the fourth initiative from Rio de Janeiro in the campaign, has been developing a sports and sociocultural project for 17 years. Currently, the group occupies the space of the Complexo Esportivo da Rocinha and maintains its activities throughout the community. The organization has students who travel frequently for presentations abroad and also has representatives spread across Europe.

Finally, the funds raised by the IMPACTO platform also benefit Fundação Gibi, in Taboão da Serra, in the state of São Paulo. The project, which started in 2017 and is named after the coach and former athlete Gibi, offers boxing, karate, muay thai, capoeira and jiu-jitsu classes to 245 children and young people. Currently, the organization has 18 students competing professionally.

The project coordinator, Eduardo Santos, reinforces the meaning of each donation. “We received the first financial contribution to purchase the karate children’s uniforms and we followed all the purchase and accountability processes with agility and transparency. The donation is very important. Donating is a gesture of love for others, it is helping to transform lives and scenarios through attitudes”.
