The Clube de Assinatura Leitor Solidário (Solidarity Reader Subscription Club), initially named Sexta Arte, was founded in 2016 by Nicole Cézar de Andrade, psychologist, pedagogue and specialist in Children ‘s Literature. A year ago, the publicist Flávia Facci joined as a partner, repositioning the brand, renamed to Leitor Solidário (Solidarity Reader).

“Faced with a increasing need to bring people close in the world of writing, of the importance of investing in formatting readers, of the creation of reading spaces and libraries and the relevance of the mediator of reading practices, Sixth Art was born, a social company for the development of projects related to reading, changing the history of many people. We saw, at the creation of the Solidarity Reader Subscription Club, the opportunity to facilitate a social project to form readers, made in institutions that attend low-income kids, based on three pillars: specialized consultancy, meeting with the author and reading class”, explains Flávia.

In Solidarity Reader, we believe in a vast horizon, full of possibilities that can begin as the blow of a gentle wind, but with enough strength to, slowly, form new landscapes and build new stories. The kids attended are residents of low-income cariocas’ communities and the actions are also carried out in public schools, NGOs and social works. The project is located in Rio de Janeiro, but the plan is to expand to other states.

Solidarity Reader Subscription Club

According to Flávia Facci, the project’s main challenge today is to find funding to expand the activities and, therefore, the signing is fundamental in this process. To encourage the support network, was created the Solidarity Reader Advantage Club, through which the subscribers have a series of benefits and discounts in partner institutions and, periodically, are realized events of storytelling in companies and private schools.

Subscribers receive periodically a video via email of the kids from Projeto Social Formando Leitores, Mudando Histórias (Social Project Training Readers, Changing Stories) and, at home, a book signed by the author. “Part of the Clube de Assinaturas’ income is reverted to the maintenance of the reader training projects, that are held in non-profit partner institutions. With the amount raised, we buy books and make it possible for the author to go to these institutions for a moment of storytelling, hand books out, change of experiences and autograph. It is a magical moment of a lot of affection. Besides the enriching experience, we also assist these institutions in the training of teachers and assemble the collection so we can enjoy at the most all the possibilities each book can offer”, says Flávia.

There are four types of subscription:
