SOS Cultura RS Campaign: Institutions join forces to support arts center
The Casa de Cultura Mario Quintana, in Rio Grande do Sul, asks for help. Support them!
We know that, over time, the repetition of images of the floods that devastated Rio Grande do Sul, the victims, rescues and volunteers, decreases in the news. Little by little, the commotion is reduced and the tragedy tends to fall into oblivion. Consequently, a sense of detachment from the event arises for those who did not experience it firsthand.
But those who lived or are currently experiencing the effects of the event on their own are still there and will have to deal with the impact of the tragedy on their lives and routine for an indefinite period of time.
Therefore, I invite you to join the SOS Cultura RS campaign led by Sulflix, Lince, Aro 33, and Apoia.se.
The assistance is a specific request from the first floor of Casa de Cultura Mario Quintana (CCMQ), one of the cultural hearts of Porto Alegre. There, a scene of destruction was discovered after the floods and all commercial enterprises were affected.
There were several businesses operating in this location, where the owners and workers of these spaces are depending on the reopening so that their jobs and livelihoods can be maintained.
For those who don’t know, Casa de Cultura Mario Quintana, in addition to being the heart of local culture, is also one of the most visited cultural facilities in Rio Grande do Sul, with 12,000 square meters spread over seven floors.
The location has always hosted activities focused on cinema, music, visual arts, dance, theater, literature, in addition to holding workshops and events linked to all forms of art.
It was opened on September 25, 1990. The place is located in the grand building of the old Hotel Majestic, which had its heyday between the 1930s and 1950s, and where the poet Mario Quintana lived between 1968 and 1980.
By participating in the SOS Cultura RS campaign, you can support the businesses listed below:
