Headquarters of association that provides support to victims of domestic violence receive the installation of solar panels
Solar panel panels were donated to the Associação de Mulheres de Atitude e Compromisso Social (AMAC), Women's Association of Attitudes and Social Commitment, in English, at Dique da Vila Alzira, in Duque de Caxias
On November 24th, 2021, an article was published at the column about the Associação Mulheres de Atitudes e Compromisso Social (AMAC), Women’s Association of Attitudes and Social Commitment, in English. The interview coincided with the day when Nill Santos, the founder and president of AMAC, was honored by the City Council of Duque de Caxias in Rio de Janeiro with the title of Duquecaxiense Woman, for her outstanding work with the female community.
Now, Nill Santos and the NGO are once again mentioned here due to yet another victory. A very deserved achievement that should be publicized. In addition to having recently completed 13 years of existence, carrying out powerful and necessary work, by members of the RFS, Rede de Favela Sustentável and partners through its GT de Justiça Energética, by request from AMAC, inaugurated the first solar energy system in the favelas of Duque de Caxias on the 17th.
The entire process, such as collecting material donations, training installers and training over 20 RFS leaders as solar ambassadors, was carried out by the members of this GT.
Theresa Denise Williamson, Executive Director of ComCat, who conceived the Rede de Favelas Sustentáveis, talks about the initiative: “the organization’s objective is to recognize, enhance, and expand initiatives and qualities that already exist in Rio de Janeiro’s favelas, through the creation of networks of exchange, training, strategic partnerships and political influence.
The participants of the Women’s Association of Attitudes and Social Commitment and the community are beyond happy. The solar energy panels were installed on the roof of the association, but the expectation is that in the not too distant future, they will cover the entire territory.
“I always say that we are sunflowers, because the sunflower is always facing the sun and its seeds are energy capsules. And once again, as it was on the day the plates were implanted, the sun was radiant, as is today (09/17), and the seeds are here. This is the seed. This is the new generation that will grow: men and women, aware of their rights, knowing that they have equal rights, building a much better future”, concludes Nill Santos
